Bausch & Lomb’s Dr. Phillips Chosen for Rochester Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" Award
Gary M. Phillips, M.D., corporate vice president - Global Pharmaceuticals and Vitreoretinal, has been named to the Rochester Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" list. The list, published annually, honors 40 professionals under 40 years of age for career success and participation in civic organizations.

Gary, 38, joined Bausch & Lomb in 2002 from Novartis Pharmaceuticals in New Jersey, where he was executive director - Strategic Planning. Previously, Gary was director - Portfolio Management and Strategic Planning for Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals following his work as managing consultant for the pharmaceutical strategy practice at Towers Perrin in New York. He also served four years in the U.S. Navy as an emergency and primary care physician.

Educated at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, in 1991 Gary received both an M.D. degree from the university's School of Medicine and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management from its Wharton School of Business. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry from the university's College of Arts and Sciences in 1987.

Gary successfully chaired the 2004 Bausch & Lomb United Way Contributions Program. He is a member of the University of Pennsylvania's Medical Alumni Leadership Council, a member of the board of directors of Wilson Commencement Park in Rochester, and a member of the corporate board of directors of the YMCA of Greater Rochester.
