YMCA Awards Scholarship for Enhancement of Diversity

The YMCA of Greater Rochester has presented its 2004 Scholarship for the Enhancement of Diversity to Chaquita Pringle of Rochester. The $3,000 scholarship was presented to Ms. Pringle at the YMCA's 150th Annual Meeting held May 26, 2004 at the George Eastman House.

Chaquita has been a member of the YMCA Minority Achievers Program since 1999. She served as President of the Maplewood YMCA's Minority Achievers Program in 2002 and 2003. She is truly an asset to the YMCA Minority Achievers Program, and has received the program's Dedication Award as well as the Enthusiasm and Participation awards.

A senior at Nazareth Academy, Quita has been accepted to SUNY Mooresville and plans to pursue a career in nursing. Compassionate and committed to excellence, Quita is very involved in extracurricular activities at school, including the Campus Ministry Program, the school bowling team, the Multi-Cultural Assembly and the Cultural Awareness Club. She is highly regarded as an extremely mature and responsible student, and recently worked at a co-op at Strong Hospital's Colorectal Surgeon's Group.

Committed to her community as well as to academics, Quita has volunteered many ours with local organizations including the March of Dimes and the Girl Scouts. She has also worked at St. Monica's, helping to supervise and instruct Preschool through Sixth Grade students. She was selected by Program Chase this past summer to intern in the JPMorgan Chase Home Equity Department.
