MCC
announces Staff Additions and Promotions
The Monroe Community College Board of Trustees has hired the
following diverse individuals:
Amina Baaith, West Irondequoit, has been hired as an
instructor, English. She earned her M.A. in creative writing
from the University of Rochester and her B.A. in English from
Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Baaith was an Alice H.
Young intern, an MCC teaching internship program for minorities.
Eraj Basnayake, Avondale Estates, GA, has joined MCC
as an assistant professor in the Mathematics Department. Basnayake
earned his M.S. in computer science, his M.S. in applied mathematics
and his B.S. in computer science from the University of Georgia.
Marcia Fugate, Fairport, has been hired as an instructor
in the Transitional Studies Department. Fugate worked at MCC
part time in 2002-03 and as an adjunct instructor since 1998.
She earned her M.S. in business administration from the University
of Rochester and her B.S. in mathematics education from Purdue
University.
Bertram C. Gamory, Rochester, is returning to MCC as
an instructor, engineering science and physics. Gamory previously
worked for MCC as an adjunct instructor and was the project
director for the Liberty Partnership Program until his departure
in 1999 to the College of Engineering at the Rochester Institute
of Technology. He holds an M.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic
and a B.S. from the Pratt Institute.
Ann-Marie
John, Macedon, joins MCC as an assistant professor, nursing.
John has been at MCC as part-time and temporary capacities
since her Dr. Alice H. Young Teaching Internship in 1993.
The internship is a program that encourages minorities to
try teaching She holds her M.S. in nursing from the University
of Rochester and her B.S. in nursing from SUNY Health Science
Center in Brooklyn.
Njeru Murage, Missouri City, Texas, has joined MCC
as an assistant professor of history. Murage earned his Ph.D.
in history and urban studies from Michigan State University,
his M.A. in history from Andrews University and his B.S. in
theology and history from Newbold College, England.
Meleny Jennell-Diane Silas, Rochester, joins MCC as
an instructor in the Health and Physical Education Department.
Silas holds her M.A. in counseling and human development and
her B.A. in health and society from the University of Rochester.
Brenda A. Smith, Rochester, has been hired as director,
Educational Opportunity Program at MCC. Smith earned her M.S.
in education from SUNY Brockport and her B.S. in business
education from Bethune-Cookman College.
John Striebich, Penfield, has been hired as an assistant
professor in the Business Administration/Economics Department.
Striebich has been program director in the Workplace Development
Division since 1995. He recently became a Dr. Alice H. Young
Teaching intern, a program that encourages minorities to try
teaching. He holds an M.B.A. with concentrations in finance
and economics from the Rochester Institute of Technology and
his B.A. in international relations/political science and
economics from the University of Rochester.
Sherry Perry-Tshibangu, Pittsford, has been hired as
an instructor, business administration/economics. Tshibangu
holds her M.B.A. with a concentration in finance from Atlanta
University and a B.A. in political science from the University
of Rochester. She has been an adjunct instructor at MCC since
1999.
Lydia Tien, Penfield, has joined MCC as an assistant
professor, chemistry/geosciences. Tien has her Ph.D. in science
and mathematics education and her M.S. in chemistry from the
University of California at Berkeley and her B.A. in chemistry
from Cornell University. She has been an adjunct since 1999.
The
Monroe Community College Board of Trustees has promoted the
following diverse individuals:
Gloria Anderson, Rochester, has been promoted to associate
professor in office and computer programs. She joined MCC
in 1996 and holds her M.S. and B.S. from Nazareth College.
Tracy A. Archie, Rochester, an admissions counselor
who joined MCC in 1997, has been promoted to assistant professor.
Archie holds an Ed.M. and a B.A. from University of Buffalo.
Christine Forde, Rochester, has joined MCC as an instructor,
office and computing programs. Forde holds her M.S. in software
development and management as well as her B.S. in computer
science from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an
A.A.S. in data processing from MCC.
