Bausch
& Lomb's African-American Employee Network Lauds Americas
Marketing Team
Bausch
& Lomb's African-American Employee Network presented its
Rising Star Award to the North American Marketing team, which
developed the SofLens® Multi-Focal television commercial
that featured African-American models. Bob Moore, vice president
- Marketing Americas, and members of his team, Ari Rodriguez,
director Marketing communications; Lou Applebaum, senior product
manager, lenses; and Ron Kline, senior Marketing communications
manager, were the honorees.
The
SofLens Multi-Focal commercial, airing in the U.S. through
early 2004, focuses on an African-American couple on a road
trip. The husband, who rejects reading glasses, has difficulty
reading a map. With SofLens Multi-Focal lenses, he is able
to read the map clearly and enjoy the panoramic vistas of
their scenic destination.
"We
applaud the work of the four honorees whose efforts have helped
raise consumer awareness of our Multi-Focal contact lens and
elevated a positive portrayal of African-Americans on national
television," said Clay Osborne, vice president, Human
Resources, Global Diversity and Organizational Effectiveness
and liaison to all our employee networks.
Using
a variety of educational resources and forums, the AAEN supports
and promotes diversity efforts within Bausch & Lomb.
