NASCAR Recognizes Kodak for Leading Diversity Efforts

August’s NASCAR diversity spotlight highlights Kodak and its contributions in diversifying competition in NASCAR. Kodak has been a partner in the Drive for Diversity program since its 2004 inception; Kodak’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Antonio Perez, holds a seat on NASCAR’s Executive Steering Committee for Diversity. Eastman Kodak Company was recently named one of the ‘30 Best Companies for Diversity’ by Black Enterprise magazine and is ranked among DiversityInc.’s 50 Best Companies for Diversity.

“The efforts of Kodak have been important in further diversifying NASCAR,” said NASCAR Chief Operating Officer George Pyne. “It is through the support of NASCAR partners like Kodak that we will continue to make strides in this important area.” NASCAR Director of Diversity Tish Sheets added, “Kodak has been a great partner in helping increase diversity in the NASCAR industry. Their support of the Drive for Diversity program and the participation of Antonio Perez on the Executive Steering Committee have continued to create opportunities within our industry for people from diverse backgrounds.”

Kodak continues to sponsor Joe Henderson III in the Drive for Diversity program for the second straight season. Henderson, an African-American driver from Franklin, Tenn., competes in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series for MB2 Motorsports. In addition to supporting Henderson behind the wheel, Kodak continues to feature the young driver off the track. Henderson has made several appearances on behalf of Kodak, including the 2005 National Urban League conference in Washington, D.C., the premiere of ‘Black Wheels’, a documentary recapping the history of African-Americans in motorsports, and in upcoming corporate image advertising.

“The Drive for Diversity program has proven very beneficial for Kodak, which has a strong corporate commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Greg Walker, director and vice president of Brand & Market Development and Multicultural Marketing for Eastman Kodak Company. “Joe Henderson III has been an excellent competitor and a fine ambassador of our brand. Our participation in this program helps us connect with regional racing fans, and dovetails with our participation in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup racing. We look forward to continuing our participation in Drive for Diversity.” NASCAR will spotlight teams, tracks, sponsors and partners throughout the year for significant contributions and achievement in diversity. NASCAR will also be highlighting diverse drivers currently competing throughout the different levels of the sport.
