United Way Recruiting Participants for African American Leadership Development Training Program
Application deadline extended to July 15

The United Way of Greater Rochester NY African American Leadership Development Program (AALDP) is seeking applicants for its fall session. AALDP is an award-winning development program that provides participants with a variety of leadership, communication, and professional skill-building techniques.

The mission of AALDP is to broaden the participation on area boards of directors and increase the individual and collective voice of African Americans in leadership roles in our community. It is the only leadership program in Rochester working to unite African Americans, from all backgrounds, with the common goal of building a stronger community.

African Americans in the greater Rochester area are encouraged to apply for this innovative training program. Classes begin September 20, 2005 and continue through October 1, 2005. Class size is limited. All participants must receive release time from work to participate. A minimal participation fee of $199 will apply to all those selected to participate.

For an application form or for more information about AALDP, contact Rodney A. Young at United Way at (585) 242-6556 or via e-mail at rodney.young@uwrochester.org. All applications must be received by Friday, July 15, 2005 at United Way of Greater Rochester offices, 75 College Avenue, Rochester.

Since its inception in 1991, more than 350 individuals have graduated from United Way’s African American Leadership Development Program. The training that they received from AALDP has provided a much needed service to our community by allowing the voices of African Americans to be heard on not-for-profit boards and committees throughout the community.

As an organization of donors, United Way of Greater Rochester motivates and organizes people to work for a better way of life for all by meeting our community’s most important human care needs. It does this through a unified, community-wide effort to mobilize resources - dollars, volunteers, in-kind support and public concern - and applies them in ways that best serve the needs of the greater Rochester region.
