Bausch & Lomb Names Henry C. Tung Corporate Vice President - Global Surgical
Bausch & Lomb announced that Henry C. Tung, M.D.,
is named corporate vice president - Global Surgical.
Dr.
Tung, 46, joins Bausch & Lomb from Boston Scientific
Corporation in Natick, Mass., where he has been vice
president - New Business Development since 2000.
At Boston Scientific, Tung evaluated numerous healthcare
technologies, led multi-functional due diligence efforts,
closed multiple international transactions and developed
strong relationships with key physicians, executives,
entrepreneurs and healthcare industry leaders. In addition,
he played a lead role in the development and execution
of the corporate biopharma business strategy.
"Dr. Henry Tung's extensive experience in developing
and assessing strategies for healthcare and medical
device companies will be a real asset to our surgical
businesses," said Ronald L. Zarrella, Bausch &
Lomb chairman and chief executive officer. "We're
very pleased to welcome him to Bausch & Lomb."
Prior to Boston Scientific, Tung was a consultant at
McKinsey & Company, specializing in work with pharmaceutical
and medical technology healthcare clients. Client work
included growth strategies and research and development
strategies. From 1991-97, he was a partner at Anesthesia
Services Medical Group in San Diego, the largest single-specialty
medical group in the U.S. with more than 150 physicians,
where he was a member of the board of directors.
Tung holds a M.D. from the University of California
San Diego School of Medicine; a M.B.A. in Finance and
Healthcare Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate
School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston,
Illinois; and a B.A. degree in Human Biology from Stanford
University in Palo Alto, Calif.
He succeeds Kamal K. Sarbadhikari, 62, who plans to
retire in 2005 after nearly 20 years at the Company.
"Kamal Sarbadhikari's contributions to Bausch &
Lomb cannot be overestimated," said Zarrella. "He
has played significant roles in research and development
for contact lenses, lens care, implantable devices and
equipment, as well as in Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
Most recently, he led the Company's efforts to build a
bright future for our surgical businesses." |
