News from the YMCA of Greater Rochester
- The YMCA has been listed in the 2004 Princeton Review's Best Entry-Level Job! The book reveals where the best first job opportunities in the country are and what a perspective applicant to do to get one of them.
- For the second year in a row, the YMCA earned the
No. 1 spot on the Nonprofit Times "Nonprofit
Times Top 100" list which appears annually in the
publication's November issue.
- The Chronicle of Philanthropy ranked the
YMCA fourth place on its 2004 Philanthropy 400, a
ranking of nonprofits based on individual, foundation,
and corporate
contributions
made in 2003. That represents a jump of three places
since the YMCA's appearance at No. 7 in the 2002 list
- Time Magazine and the YMCA have collaborated
on a four-page advertorial to familiarize Time's
23 million readers with the YMCA commitment to providing
strong leadership-at the local, state, and national
levels - to a broad-based movement to help Americans
find healthier ways to live. The spread will appear
in the December 6 issue of Time. Its message
is that the YMCA is uniquely positioned to help lead
a collaborative national response to the nation's
alarming epidemic of lifestyle-related disease, which
may soon overtake tobacco as the leading preventable
cause of death in the United States. The Time
opportunity enables the YMCA to explain how it has
remained relevant and effective for 150 years by identifying
and responding to needs of the community.
