SUNY College At Brockport's Cultural Diversity Conference
Executive Committee has issued a call for proposals
for presentations at its Fifth Annual Cultural Diversity
Conference. Within Our Grasp, Building Community through
Diversity, will be held February 25, 2005 at the college
in Brockport, New York.
"Defining
Civic Engagement in a Pluralistic Society"
Presenting a program at SUNY College at Brockport's
annual Cultural Diversity Conference can be a rewarding
and valuable experience for you as a presenter, and
for the students, faculty and members of the community
who attend this important conference. This year's conference
theme is "Defining Civic Engagement in a Pluralistic
Society."
Within
Our Grasp, Building Community through Diversity strives
to be informative on issues of diversity while promoting
open-mindedness and in celebration of diversity and
acceptance of others on our college campuses and within
our communities. The conference also serves as a forum
in which to establish or enhance self-awareness in relation
to community-building endeavors.
Some
topics to consider in the context of this year's conference
theme include: religious diversity, racism in the classroom,
benefits of diversity on college campuses, diversity
in corporate America, importance of cultural competence,
cultural identity issues, call for social justice in
education, anti-racist education, classism, ageism,
gay, lesbian, trans-gendered issues, disability issues.
To
have your presentation considered for inclusion in the
2005 Cultural Diversity Conference, complete the this
form and
return it no later than November 19, 2004.

SUNY Brockport Department of Recreation and Leisure
Studies and Recreation and Leisure Club, Leadership
and Community Development Group, Brockport Student Government,
Better Community Coalition of SUNY Brockport, SUNY Brockport
CSTEP/McNair Programs, and Rho Phi Lambda.
