Register Now for the 2004 Latino Political Campaign Academy
Information Sessions: February 3 and 9th.

In the more than fifty years of Rochester Hispanic community civic engagement, the Latino Alliance Political Campaign Academy is certainly one of its most historic and innovative projects. It engages Latinos of all political parties who are interested in exploring elected or appointed office and those who want to manage and participate in the political campaigns of candidates for public office. To our knowledge, this is the only multi-partisan approach that has ever been undertaken in Monroe County history.

Beginning March 1, 2004, six dynamic sessions will cover the personal, legal and political issues of running for public office. Presenters include current and past elected officials, knowledgeable campaign workers and political party leaders. The curriculum is based on practical learning and focuses on how to run successful political campaigns that leverage intellectual & social capital as community assets.

The training academy will:
  • De-mystify the candidate selection and campaign processes.
  • Give participants an opportunity to meet with and talk directly to people who hold public office.
  • Identify opportunities and challenges faced by Latino candidates and political workers.
  • Encourage involvement at all levels of government.
  • Interact with and meet other Latinos interested in public service.
  • Introduce participants to political mentors.
  • Provide networking opportunities.
