Bausch
& Lomb Concludes Year of Successful Diversity Network
Forums for Employees
In 2003 Bausch & Lomb presented five Diversity Network
Forums, which allowed employees to hear the business
case for diversity and the reason the company supports
employee resource groups. Included in each program was
a panel made up of representatives from each of the
seven Employee Resource Groups who discusses their networks
missions and strategies. There is also a chance for
employees to ask questions and give feedback and personal
stories. After the forums there is an additional chance
to further discussions and networking while enjoying
ethnic food.
The
forums, targeted to B&L managers, are just one way
that Bausch & Lomb gets the word out on diversity.
This year the forums were attended by over 150 employees,
which accounts for over 11% of the Rochester employee
base. Other communications are done through the diversity
speaker series. The last speaker for 2003 was Dr. Rao,
president elect of Vision 2020 and was attended by over
120 employees. Once the program is added to Bausch &
Lomb's intranet, employees from around the world can
view. The various communications avenues allow a consistent
reminder of Bausch & Lomb's belief in the importance
of a diverse workforce, thoughts and product as a business
asset.
