Harter Secrest & Emery LLP Sharply Expands its Law School Diversity Scholarship Program

Rochester, New York—September 23, 2008 – The law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery announces that it has tripled the size of its diversity scholarship program. The firm has added a second diversity scholarship for law school students and increased its amount—each will be awarded in the amount of $7,500, up from $5,000. Scholarship winners will also receive a paid summer associate position at one of the firm’s Upstate New York offices.

Law students are selected on the basis of their academic record, work experience and additional personal and professional elements that evidence great promise for a successful career in the legal profession. Maureen Alston, Managing Partner, Harter, Secrest & Emery stated, “We are pleased to continue, and enhance our diversity scholarship program. We hope to attract more students to legal careers in Upstate New York.” Ms. Alston further stated, “We are convinced that our Diversity Scholarship Program will enable us to provide better service to our clients and create a richer work environment.”

Harter Secrest initiated this program in 2005, and has since awarded a scholarship each year to a first year law student who fulfills the award’s academic and professional criteria.
