PROCTER & GAMBLE LEADER SELECTED TO RECEIVE B’NAI B’RITH INTERNATIONAL DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

(Washington, D.C., Feb. 24, 2010)—B’nai B’rith International has selected Procter & Gamble to receive the 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award.

The award was presented to P&G’s Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Bob McDonald at a dinner and award presentation on March 2 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York.

This award recognizes Procter & Gamble’s commitment to philanthropy, diversity education, and leadership in promoting tolerance worldwide. Since its founding in 1843, B’nai B’rith has been committed to these ideals and values and pays tribute to individuals and companies with like-minded goals.

“P&G has continually demonstrated an unprecedented level of community commitment and outreach,” said B’nai B’rith International President Dennis W. Glick. “Bob McDonald clearly understands the great potential of a multi-faceted organization to use its knowledge and skills for Tikkun Olam, healing the world.”

For more than four decades, B’nai B’rith has presented the Distinguished Achievement Award in recognition of the accomplishments of key community and corporate leaders around the world. These exceptional individuals and companies are honored for their community service, dedicated leadership, and commitment to improving the lives of the individuals they serve.

P&G is committed to improving life through efforts such as its “Live, Learn and Thrive” cause. Under the Live, Learn and Thrive banner, P&G delivers dozens of programs to help children around the world get off to a healthy start, receive access to education, and build skills for life. For instance, P&G’s Pampers brand partners with UNICEF to vaccinate women and children, protecting them against maternal and neonatal tetanus. In the United States, the company tackles child hunger, teaming with Feeding America to provide after-school meals at “Kids Cafes” nationwide, and to get meals to children in need during weekends and school breaks when they don’t have access to the free lunch program.

By capitalizing on the scale of its company and the passionate, skilled volunteerism of employees, P&G is on track to reach more than 300 million children globally by 2012.

“It’s remarkable that we are able to honor an organization that is older than we are,” said B’nai B’rith International Executive Vice President Daniel S. Mariaschin. “Since 1837, Procter & Gamble has distinguished itself as a corporate innovator and a community leader. In various positions during his 30 years at the company, Bob has lived all over the world. And the global outlook he honed during that time has informed his leadership.”
