YMCA Recognized as a 2007 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50

The YMCA of Greater Rochester has been chosen to be recognized as one of 50 honorees of the 2007 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 award and has been ranked number 13.

The YMCA of Greater Rochester is among a select group of diverse companies that recruist and retains mature workers – they treat them right – and, as a result, rank among the 50 employers from across the U.S. that have been named 2007 "AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50." The AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 award selection committee seeks to determine employers of choice by, among other things, highlighting those who provide flexible work options, operate creative recruitment programs and rehire retirees.

“The winning employers stand as exemplary models for others who have yet to plan for the graying of their workforce," said Deborah Russell, who directs the Best Employers program for AARP. "The creative practices today's winners have in place may well evolve in the future, but the 2007 Best Employers give us high standards to strive for."
