1st Annual Men of Color Summit

The 1st Annual Men of Color Summit will be held at The College at Brockport, June 16-17, 2009. This statewide event, focused on undergraduate students, is an important effort towards highlighting the need and successes of this population.

With this in mind, The Summit has been designed to give men of color an opportunity to connect, network, learn and find support, in the presence of men – who like themselves – have faced the rigors of education and the professional ranks. The two day event will provide a host of activities aimed at engaging students in meaningful conversation and provide the space to examine and further develop goals for their respective futures.

I am hopeful that members of the Brockport community will want to be involved. Following are several opportunities for involvement:
·         Serve as a Coach/Advisor to a team of young men competing in “The College Doctor Quiz Bowl”

·         Serve as a “Dialogue Circle” discussion leader

·         Sponsor attendance by students from your department and/or program

The Summit will feature speakers and presenters from across the state and from professions and disciplines such as Education, Legal/Law, Athletics, Political, and Health. We are looking forward to two meaningful days of interaction, conversation, learning and growth. Furthermore, we are looking forward to your support of this endeavor.  For complete details, visit www.brockport.edu/lcd/mocs <http://www.brockport.edu/lcd/mocs>
