Student Engagement Literacy Project Update: First Group of Summer School Participants Completed the Freedom Crossing Book
Sixty four students in the Rochester City School in grades three through six have completed the Freedom Crosing book. The project is part of the Underground Railraoad Conference Literacy Project.
"The support from the administration and teachers was absolutely incredible," said Curtis Birthwright, Coordinator for the program. " In fact several of the administrators and teachers would like to have the SELP concept be implemented in their schools during the school year in an after school model. Discussion about that process will move into the “Memorandum of Understanding” phase in early September."
Thanks to Dr. David Anderson and Dr. Frederick Jefferson the following projects have been confirmed:
- In October: The Nazareth Service Learning Students will be at the South Avenue Recreation Center (Dr. Toni Gauthier and Annie Pride) and at School # 58 World of Inquiry (Dr. Ed Wiltse and Ms. Aly Ricci)
