Terry Howard

Terry Howard is the Diversity & Inclusion Director at Texas Instruments. His work includes training, consulting and coaching employees globally and at all levels. Prior to his move to Texas, Terry was president of Eastwick Trainers, Somerset, NJ. There he did diversity work for AT&T, Bell Atlantic, Anheuser Busch, FMC, Telcordia, Kellogg, GM and others. Terry spent 15 years at AT&T where he founded AT&T's diversity management center and was the chief architect of AT&T's first national diversity conference.  

He presented at the Conference on Multiculturalism in Spain and facilitated at the “Legitimizing Diversity as A Business Tool” in Amsterdam and presented “Understanding the U.S. American” and “Building an Inclusive Workplace” in Shanghai and India and “Achieving Trust” sessions in Malaysia, Germany and France. He designed “Black Folks and White Folks, Our cultured-based patterns of difference” sessions, “Managing the Subtle – micro messages in the contemporary workplace,” and “Preventing & Eradicating Workplace Bullying," and “Delivering & Receiving Feedback Across Differences.“

Terry writes a monthly diversity column for 28,000 employees worldwide and has written over 100 “Inclusion Insights” over the past five years. He is a highly sought after speaker, both internally and externally. He is also is the chief architect of the company’s annual Diversity & Inclusion learning labs for the CEO and 40 top leaders. His popular and recently-introduced “Beer Summits with Straight White Guys” has expanded the inclusion dialogue to another level. He has a passion for and lots of experience in launching strategic employee resources groups
 
In 2006 Terry founded the “Diversity Connection Consortium,” with current members from across the United States, Canada, India, Indonesia, China and representing organizations ranging from Battelle, Intel, IBM, Intuit, Fluor, First American, The University of Texas at Dallas, Burlington Northern, FedEx Office, Price Waterhouse, Coors, Herman Miller, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Brown and Forman, CBS News, The American Cancer Society, Hewlett Packard, Verizon and others.
 
Mr. Howard was selected by The National Society of Black Engineers’ as the 2007 recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year Diversity in Industry Award.
 
A native of Staunton, Virginia, he is a graduate of Winston-Salem (NC) State University.
