Summary of Session:
In 2010 the ConocoPhillips Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex (LCMC) embarked upon a site-specific effort designed to achieve its diversity and inclusion vision, a respectful and inclusive culture which enables LCMC to effectively attract, develop and retain a broad, diverse pool of highly qualified employees.
Two years into the journey, we have done a lot, learned a lot and gained great insights into the challenges and rewards of building an inclusive culture. In this session we will share our learnings with others embarking upon or moving down this same path.
Briefly describe the learning objectives of your session:
- This session will be both informative and interactive. Interactivity will be achieved through an extended question and answer period.
- Session participants will learn:
- Practical steps for building an inclusive culture
- How to build institutional commitment to diversity and inclusion
Strategies for engaging employees in the diversity and inclusion effort
- What LCMC has identified as best practices
- What worked (and didn’t work) in launching a diversity and inclusion effort in a manufacturing environment
